Finally, with one massive heave, the stake came out. Whitenose fell back; the noose got tighter. Whitenose squealed with pain. Brambleclaw carefully pulled off the trap. Whitenose fell to the ground, exhausted. She began licking her paw. "Let's get her back to Leafpool," suggested Rainwhisker. Jaypaw looked at his mentor in shock. Was she going to be okay? He didn't ask. Brambleclaw and Rainwhisker stood on either side of Whitenose, and helped her walk. Berrypaw ran ahead to warn Leafpool. Jaypaw walked behind with his siblings on either side of him.

Lionpaw looked at his brother's sad face, and knew he was thinking the same thing he was.
Will Jaypaw need a new mentor?

Brackenfur suddenly ran up behind them. "What's going on? I thought I heard cries of pa-" he stopped and sniffed the air. "Is that blood I smell?" he asked, wide-eyed. He raced forward and spotted Whitenose. Brackenfur gasped. "What happened?" he asked. none of the Warriors answered. "She... got caught in a fox-trap." answered Lionpaw quietly.

Brackenfur looked around at the cats. "We need to get you back to camp. Jaypaw, Hollypaw! Get those cobwebs over there, and we'll see what we can plaster up for right now." He let Whitenose lean on his shoulder and Brambleclaw lightly wrapped his tail around her neck. Hollypaw and Jaypaw quickly pressed the cobwebs onto Whitenose's paw and followed quietly behind the warriors, with Rainwhisker behind them.

Berrypaw burst into the clearing, wide-eyed. He quickly climbed the ledge up to Leafpool's den. He stuck his head into the den, and meowed, "Leafpool! Quickly, Whitenose's hurt!" then he raced back down into the clearing. Cloudtail and Brightheart were waiting in the clearing for him. "Did you say Whitenose was hurt?" they asked nervously. "yes," meowed Berrypaw, "Brambleclaw and the rest of the patrol are bringing her back now." Brightheart turned and started to trot out of the camp. "No!" hissed Berrypaw racing after her, "You'll just get in the way! They'll be here soon. Just wait a minute." Brightheart gave him a dark look then padded back to Cloudtail's side. Berrypaw hesitated. He had only meant to help, not hurt Brightheart. "Sorry, I'm just trying to help." he mewed. He saw Leafpool trotting down the ledge, a pack of herbs in her mouth. He ran over to meet her.

"What happened?!" Leafpool asked as Whitenose and the others entered camp. She raced over to Whitenose, anxiously sniffing the wound on her paw. "Well, its not infected," Leafpool sighed, releived. Whitenose relaxed a little. Leafpool sniffed at the cobwebs the apprentices had put on her paw. "Good job to whoever put these cobwebs on Whitenose's paw. They have helped me immensely." Jaypaw felt a small burst of pride pop in his chest. He had applied the web to Whitenose's paw with Hollypaw. He saw his sister straighten a little when Leafpool had complimented their work.

"Someone help me get her up to my den, now." she ordered. Brackenfur and leafpool stood on either side of Whitenose, and led her up to the Medicine den. Brightheart and Cloudtail fallowed worriedly behind. Rainwhisker padded up to Lionpaw; his apprentice. "Good job today," he mewed, smiling, "To all of you." The three siblings smiled even more. "Take something from the fresh-kill pile and eat." he meowed, "You deserve it." Then the tom padded off to the Warriors' den. As the three apprentices' began to eat, Poppypaw trotted out of the apprentices' den. "I heard about what happened! Is Whitenose okay?" The three siblings nodded. "Tell me all about it!" mewed Poppypaw excitedly. Jaypaw, Hollypaw and Lionpaw began to tell their tale. Hollypaw noticed that Lionpaw exagerated a bit, though she did not correct him. They each took turns speaking. Poppypaw gazed in awe. Mousepaw padded out of the apprentices' den, to listen as well. Berrypaw trotted over with a mouth in his jaws. Here and there, he would add something to the story. When the story was over, Poppypaw stood there, wide-eyed. "I would have been so scared! It didn't sound as if you were scared at all. You must be very brave." Lionpaw noticed that Poppypaw looked at him as she said that last sentence. He felt his fur growing warm. Finally, Poppypaw left with Mousepaw. Berrypaw rolled his eyes and smiled at Lionpaw. "I noticed you exagerated a bit." he snickered. "Did not!" Berrypaw tilted his head to the side. "Okay, but only a bit..." Berrypaw smiled and padded off. Lionpaw, Hollypaw and Jaypaw finished their food in silence. They were quite tired. When Hollypaw finished, she licked her lips, stood up and said;"I'm tired. I'm going to take a nap." "So am I," meowed Jaypaw, standing up. "See you in a minute." mewed Lionpaw. "I just have to finish this off," he mewed, looking down at his vole. "Okay," mewed Hollypaw, stretching, " 'Bye!" The two apprentices' padded off. Lionpaw reflected on what had happened today. He had exagerated, but only to impress Poppypaw. He would have done it to anybody. But before leaving, she had looked at him with those lovely bright eyes. You must be very brave... Perhaps it was only coincidence that she had looked at him while saying these words... He was brought back to the present time when he spotted Cloudtail and Brightheart padding down the ledge into the clearing. He stood up and walked up to them. "How is Whitenose?" he asked. "She is fine." meowed Cloudtail. "Leafpool had to remove the cobwebs to put on a poultrice. But the bleeding has mostly stopped." "Leafpool said that she'll be okay," meowed Brightheart. Lionpaw smiled. "You three did well today." meowed Brightheart. Cloudtail nodded. "Thank you." mewed Lionpaw. Brightheart dipped her head, then padded off to the Warriors' den, fallowed by Cloudtail. Lionpaw realized that it was getting dark out. He trotted swiftly into the apprentices' den. Jaypaw and Hollypaw were dozing in their nests. Hollypaw looked up as he entered the den. She blinked, then lay her head down again. Lionpaw curled up in his nest next to his sister, then fell asleep.

Firestar's yowl woke Hollypaw at moonhigh. She figured this must be Mousepaw, Hazelpaw and Berrypaw's warrior ceremony. She prodded her brothers. "Come on, you lazy badgers! Get up! Its time for Mousepaw, Hazelpaw, and Berrypaw to become warriors!" she hissed playfully at her snoring brothers, who shook off her insult and headed out to their place next to their mother with her. "I call you here tonight for one of my favorite duties. Berrypaw, Hazelpaw, Mousepaw. You all deserve this." Berrypaw curled his tail in delight, Hazelpaw and Mousepaw purred softly. "I, Firestar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your warrior code, and I commend them to you as warriors in turn. "Berrypaw," he spoke proudly, "do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" "I do." Berrypaw said loudly. He quivered nervously. "And Hazelpaw," Firestar directed his green eyes at her, "Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" "I do." Hazelpaw mewed as loud as she could, her voice light with nervousness. "And finally, Mousepaw," he meowed, "Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" he asked. "I...I do." he managed to tell his leader. He shook with excitement, barely able to contain himself. "then by the powers of StarClan, I give you all your warrior names. Berrypaw, from this day on, you will be known as Berrywind. StarClan honors your courage and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan." He rested his headon Berrywind's lowered one, and Berrywind licked his shoulder in respect. "Berrywind! Berrywind!" Brambleclaw cheered, and others joined in. It died quickly as Firestar went to Hazelpaw. "Hazelpaw, from now on, you will be known as Hazelbranch. StarClan honors your determination and hard-working attitude, and welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan." He rested his head on Hazelbranch and she also licked his shoulder in respect. "Hazelbranch! Hazelbranch!" Dustpelt howled, and Daisy and others joined in, but only for a few quick moments. Firestar moved himself in front of Mousepaw and began to speak. "Mousepaw, from now on you will be known as-" Suddenly a howl cut Firestar off. "ShadowClan!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lionpaw looked around, his eyes wide with nervousness. Not now! Not when we have Whitewing in bad condition and right when Mousepaw, or whatever we call him, was about to get his warrior name! I wonder what will happen? But I can't think about that now! Just as he finished his thought, a ShadowClan warrior jumped on him, bowling him over. Not expecting it, the wind was knocked out of his little lungs and he struggled to recover it.

Lionpaw fell to the ground. The pulled himself quickly up. A dark shadowclan tom spat at him, then lunged at Lionpaw again. Lionpaw flashed out his claws, and raked them across the tom's stomach. The Shadowclan warrior hissed and bit Lionpaw's shoulder. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hollypaw and Hazelbranch fought side by side against a tabby she-cat. The tabby scratched Hollypaw, but Hazelbranch jumped on The ShadowClan tabby's back, pulling her off of Hollypaw. Hollypaw jumped up and helped Hazelbranch fight off the tabby. Hazelbranch leaped onto the tabby again, and held her down. Hollypaw ripped out patches of the ShadowClan she-cat's fur out. The tabby cried in pain. Then Hazelbranch released her and the Warrior ran off in terror. Hazelbranch smiled at Hollypaw, then they raced after another ShadowClan warrior. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jaypaw was fighting a ShadowClan tom who was trying to get up the ledge that led up to Leafpool's den. But Jaypaw was a lot smaller than the Warrior. The Warrior pushed Jaypaw farther and farther up the ledge. Soon, they were right outside the medicine den. Jaypaw refused to let the ShadowClan cat enter; He would hurt Whitenose more. Suddenly Jaypaw had an Idea. He pressed himself up close to the Cliff wall. The ShadowClan tom, stood in front of him, his paw raised; his claws unsheathed. Just before the tom delivered the blow, Jaypaw pushed the tom right off the cliff. The ShadowClan Warrior fell in the clearing, hurting his leg.

Lionpaw and Jaypaw fought fiercely side by side. Soon, they sent a tall ShadowClan warrior racing off to the trees. They smiled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Firestar sent a warrior fleeing out of camp. He stopped for a moment to survey ThunderClan's predicament. ThunderClan was definitely winning this battle. If they could just hold on for a few more minutes... Firestar leaped at a ShadowClan she-cat, and dragged her off of Birchpaw.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lionpaw and Jaypaw met up with Hollypaw. Then the three of them fought together. They were strong, smart and quick. They could beat anyone. Together, they were unstoppable.
Soon, the last few ShadowClan Warriors left. ThunderClan let out proud cheers. They had won! ShadowClan won't have ThunderClan today, or any other day, reflected Jaypaw.

The ShadowClan cats, realizing the rest was being follwed by their shaking tails, ran off. ThunderClan cheered. Firestar leaped up onto the Highledge and meowed loudly. "Now where was I?" he asked, and Mousepaw hopped up in front of him. "Mousepaw, from now on you will be known as-" "Firestar!" a cat howled in the distance. Mistyfoot appeared in the entrance, her eyes wide with shock and her breath heavy with exhaustion. "ShadowClan...attack...Leopard...star...on last...life...HURRY!" she collapsed. She must've ran halfway along the lake! Hollypaw thought silently. Firestar turned to the crowd. "I need 3 warriors willing to come and my deputy. And Leafpool, I think you should come, too. Take care of Mistyfoot first. I want 2 of the warriors who volunteer to go to stay here and take Leafpool and Mistyfoot to catch up to Brambleclaw, another warrior and I so we can get to Leopardstar before she dies. Cloudtail, would you like to come?" "I'll come." a gray furred cat strode forward. "I will go with my son, and Millie too, if that's okay." "Are you sure, Stormfur, Graystripe? You want to say goodbye to Leopardstar?" Stormfur nodded. "She was my leader before I went with the Tribe and then you guys. The least I could do is mourn her loss." "And she was my leader for a short time too, remember." Graystripe meowed, reminding Firestar of poor Silverstream, who died givingbirth to Stormfur and his sister, Feathertail, and Graystripe, wanting the best for them, joined RiverClan to be with them. But During a fight between RiverClan and ThunderClan, Greystripe warned Fireheart then of Leopardstar coming up behind him, leading her to exile him from RiverClan, and Bluestar to take him back in in her loony stage of thinking her clan were all traitors. "I don't think it'd be a good idea for Millie to come. She looks tired, and she has no reason. She has no link. I think Sandstorm should do it. So that's Stormfur, Greystripe and Sandstorm. Let's head out, Brambleclaw, Sandstorm. Greystripe and Stormfur, wait for Leafpool and Mistyfoot and try to catch up to us."

Firestar raced out of camp. Sandstorm and Brambleclaw fallowed closely behind.
Jaypaw watched his father and grandparents leave. He sat down and glared after them. He wanted to go too. He wanted to join the fight. He wanted to see what happened. He sat up when he got an idea. I'll fallow them! He looked around. No one was looking at him. They were gathered around Mistyfoot now. Silently, Jaypaw snuck out of camp. He tiptoed through the bracked, being as quiet as he could. When he was a safe distance away, he started running. It was dark out. He leaped over a fallen log, and avoided a patch of mud. He knew that he'd be in trouble. But if the fighting got really bad, Jaypaw could help. They'd thank him then. He'd be a hero just like his parents. Just like Firestar. He'd be the youngest hero. His sister and brother would be so jealous. Jaypaw smiled and kept running.

Soon, he lost their scent trail once he got past the WindClan border. Their scent markers are too strong! he thought desparately, but seeing as it was all open morrland, he spotted them quickly again and restarted his desparate chase to be a hero. Halfway through WindClan, he heard breathing behind him. Oh no! Its Mistyfoot and the others, they're catching up! He had to find somewhere to hide, and quick, they were coming fast. Its all open! There is nothing for me to hide behind! All of the sudden, he felt breath behind him. He looked back. Stormfur was standing over him, a look of horror and dissappointment twisted on his face. "Jaypaw! What are you doing here? You are not supposed to be here! What if a WindClan cat caught you? What would you do then!" Stormfur picked him up by his scruff and dropped him in front of Graystripe. "Father, can you take him back to camp? I want to see Leopardstar, and at least be there to mourn for her." "Sure, Stormfur." He licked Stormfur's ear in affection. "Come on, Jaypaw, get up, you're not hurt. But when Firestar finds out about this-" "He won't make me stop being an apprentice, would he? He won't send me back to the nursery?" Jaypaw looked up at Graystripe with pleading blue eyes. "No, of course not. Stormfur," Graystripe called to his son, "since Jaypaw won't be allowed out of camp for a while, why don't we just let him come." Stormfur looked at Mistyfoot. "Hey, its not my decision. Its her camp soon." Mistyfoot shook her head. "I wouldn't mind. He hasn't seen a leader lose their last life. Its a good experience though." Jaypaw brightened. They ran faster, and ended up making to camp before Leopardstar died.

ooc. I'll try!
Jaypaw's eyes widened in shock. Many ShadowClan warriors lay wounded on the ground, unable to move. But there were even more wounded RiverClan cats. Jaypaw watched as a tall shadowclan tom raked a RiverClan queen across the face, splattering blood every which way. The queen fell to the ground and yowled in pain. She hissed, and raised her paws in defence. An elder stood over a couple of kits by the nursery; protecting them. But the elder was small and scrawny. A ShadowClan Warrior bowled him over easily with a cuff from his paw. "Let's go!" yowled Graystripe and raced into the fight. Stormfur ran off after his father, then paused. "be careful, Jaypaw," he meowed. Then fallowed Graystripe. Jaypaw leaped onto the back of a Tabby ShadowClan she-cat. He dug his claws into her fur and bit her neck. The tabby growled. She slammed down on her back, crushing Jaypaw under her weight. Jaypaw couldn't breathe. He tried to move, to escape; but he couldn't. I'm going to die! he thought. Suddenly, the weight was lifted off of him. Jaypaw stood up and looked around. A RiverClan apprentice was fighting with the tabby. He had saved Jaypaw's life! Jaypaw joined the RiverClan apprentice and together, they sent the she-cat racing off into the trees. Jaypaw smiled at the apprentice. But his smile disapeared when he heard a loud cry. Everyone stopped fighting. Everyone stood still. In the center of the clearing he saw Leopardstar. Her face was covered with blood, as was the rest of her body. Patches of her fur hung off of her. Blackstar had her pinned down. Leopardstar glared up at Blackstar. "What did I do? What did I ever do?" She cried defiantly. "This is in avenge for Russetfur!" yowled Blackstar, raising his paw, claws unsheathed. Then, the ShadowClan leader slashed a nasty cut across Leopardstar's neck. Blood poured out. Leopardstar gave one last defiant hiss before she lay still. Jaypaw stood in shocked silence. Leopardstar was dead. Blackstar raised his head to the sky and let out a cry. Jaypaw could here triumph in it. But something else too... Firestar leaped out from the crowed of cats. He stormed up to Blackstar and cried, "Blackstar, why?" His voice sounded strained with pain. "What did she do?" Blackstar snarled and swished his tail. "It's all her fault." he muttered. "WHAT IS?!" yowled Firestar. Blackstar glared at Firestar. Then, the leader turned to leave. Firestar leaped at Blackstar. He landed on his back, and pressed him to the ground. Firestar bent over and said,"Blackstar, tell me what Leopardstar did." his voice was low and menacing. Jaypaw had never heard his grandfather use this tone. There was a long pause. Jaypaw was beginning to think that he wasn't going to respond. Then he heard Blackstar sigh. "I'll tell you, if you let me up." Firestar stepped back, letting Blackstar free. Blackstar shook himself, then sat down. "It was her. She killed Russetfur. She killed Russetfur." Blackstar's breathing was harsh and his eyes were clouded with pain. Jaypaw realized what he had heard in Blackstar's cry; mourning. Then, Blackstar gathered his Warriors together with a sweep of his tail and they left. Firestar stared after them. Finally he spoke. "L-Leopardstar... she wouldn't!" He looked at the battered RiverClan cats. "We know nothing of this." one of the senior Warriors mewed quietly. "I don't beleive him!" meowed Mistyfoot defiantly. "Leopardstar would not do such a thing!" The gray she-cat padded up to Leopardstar's body, and lay next to her. "We shall now mourn for her." "Let's stay. I want to mourn for her." meowed Stormfur. "Wait until the RiverClan cats have finished though." meowed Graystripe. Jaypaw sat down next to his father. Brambleclaw looked down at him with eyes wide with fear. "J-Jaypaw? What are you doing here?"
Ooc. Sorry! Another long one!
