Chapter 14
Miststar sat in her den, pondering why Lillypaw always seemed to show up at the most awkward times. A Greenleaf storm had arisen in the clearing, and she was soothed by the calm patter of rain in the den. At least she is a good cat. But she has only been an apprentice for a week! It’s half-moon tomorrow night, and the gathering should be less than two weeks away. Will she be ready? Will she tell anyone? I must discuss this with her when she returns. StarClan has blessed use with ten apprentices but there are no other kits and though Waterfall, Rosepetal, and Poppyfur are all close to kitting it will be more than six months from the day they are born before the kits can become apprentices, and it might be weeks before the mothers even kit! I think that this is a bad omen. Dewpaw might have to stay longer than a normal apprentice. I can’t show a weakness to Swiftfoot by making Spottedmoon’s kits stay longer. Snowpaw and Whitepaw........ what does StarClan want with them? Something tells me that they are special.......
Her thoughts wandered on like this for some hours before she heard a cry escape the nursery. Was that Waterfall? She can’t be kitting now, can she? A clap of lighting spread throughout the clearing and into her den. Leaping to her feet, Miststar crossed the clearing with the speed of StarClan, only to see Windrose dash from her den, which was next to Miststar’s tree, to the nursery with herbs clamped in her jaws. When she saw Miststar she yowled above the crack of thunder that overtook the clearing, “Fetch Dewpaw and Rushpaw!” Without waiting to see if she ever answered, Windrose spun around and disappeared into the brambles that sheltered the nursery from the elements. Where are they? Quickly checking the apprentices den, she found nothing but empty nests. She tried the elders den and found success, with Dewpaw just leaving and Rushpaw talking quietly to Runningpaw. Maybe I should ask her what’s going between them Miststar thought. Deciding against it, she called Dewpaw and Rushpaw to her. “Windrose wants you both in the nursery. Now!” And giving Rushpaw a shove towards the nursery, she fell into step behind them. Upon entering the nursery, she smelt a strange scent. Blood!
Elsewhere in the forest…….
Lillypaw and Moonpaw had caught up with Pepperpaw and Cinnamonpaw. They had just left a few moments before Lillypaw’s group appeared in the clearing. Running full force through the forest, the four apprentices, still small as kits, found the place where Spottedmoon had directed them to meet. What’s that odd smell? Lillypaw looked around wildly to discover her mother being towered over by a huge beast with a head the size of Spottedmoon’s whole body. StarClan help me! What is that? Signaling to her siblings to wait in the bushes, Lillypaw crept out of the shadows. My white fur must look like a cat in water! Lifting herself to her haunches, she drew her lip back and snarled at the beast. “Leave my mother alone!” and with that, she flung her whole body at the thing’s gaping jaws.

if you remember earlier, the thing that Spottedmoon is talking too is the dog that is friendly. now, if you also remember, rushpaw has been caught by her mentor and her leader. how soon do you think that Swiftfoot will find out? something also happens in chapter 16 that changes the situation.
anyways, here is chapter 15.... hehe more suspence, you dont find out what happens with Lillypaw and Spottedmoon. hahaha

Chapter 15
Miststar looked around the den, searching for the cause of the blood that she had scented. Windrose stood over Waterfall. “Eat this, Waterfall. It will make your kitting easier,” Windrose mewed calmly. Miststar stood behind her for awhile, waiting to see if Windrose needed help. Soon later, a wet ball of fur was placed at her feet, and Rushpaw, who stood by her side, instructed her, “Lick!” Immediately, Miststar bent over the tiny kit and dried its fur, massaging it gently with her tongue. It turned out to be a silver tabby, like its mother. And a tom by the smell of it! Miststar thought to herself. “What now?” she asked Rushpaw, afraid to disturb Windrose. “Wrap your tail around it ….. and look! Here’s another one!” responded Rushpaw as Windrose placed two more kits behind her. Miststar went to work on one beige she-kit and Rushpaw massaged a tabby tom, while Windrose set a forth kit, a gray she-kit with a beige tail, in front of Dewpaw. Great Starclan! How many kits is this queen going to have? When Miststar, Rushpaw, and Dewpaw each got the kits dry, Dewpaw lay down and curled the four kits around her stomach, though she had no milk to offer them. Windrose turned around and, once again dropped a kit at Miststar’s paw. “There is only one more kit on the way,” Windrose told her when she saw Miststar’s shocked expression at a fifth kit, “but it’s the smallest, and I don’t know if it will make it.” The fifth kit was a beige tom with a tabby tail and white paws. When Miststar had placed the fifth kit beside the others, she looked up to find Windrose standing over an exhausted Waterfall. Windrose had a tiny kit in her jaws, smaller than the others; her eyes full of sorrow. Setting the kit down, Windrose mewed quietly in Miststar’s ear,” She’s exhausted. I don’t know whether she will make it,” then added with a forlorn glance at Waterfall, “I must go and get cobwebs; she is bleeding badly.” Rushpaw took Windrose’s place beside Waterfall as Windrose slipped out of the den, mewing softly into her ear.
Miststar stared at the kit Windrose had set at her paws. It was a beautiful golden-tabby she-kit. Drying its fur, Miststar set it with the five other kits, at Dewpaw’s belly. Not long after, Windrose reappeared in the nursery with dock leaves in her jaws. As soon as she set the leaves down, they fell apart to reveal a variety of herbs and a swath of cobwebs. Miststar recognized a few of the herbs, among which were poppy seeds and marigold. Windrose held up a yellow daisy-like flower and a few tiny green leaves to Rushpaw and asked her, “What are these herbs?” “Ragwort,” she replied quickly, her nose pointed to the flower, “and thyme,” pointing to the green leaves. “Good,” praised Windrose, “What are they used for?” “Ragwort strengthens and thyme treats shock.” “Excellent!” A purr rose in Windrose’s throat. I don’t understand why Windrose doesn’t trust her. She is wonderful at this! Miststar thought to herself. Settling down next to Dewpaw, Miststar gazed at Waterfall’s six kits. Well at least we have five healthy kits. Then her gaze slid to the golden-tabby she-kit. She is half their size! What will...... A shriek of pain disturbed her thoughts. That came from the clearing. Great StarClan, what is happening now?
Racing out into the clearing, where it was still drizzling, Miststar saw Swiftfoot and Cedarfur, Swiftfoot’s mate, who had been on a hunting patrol with him, covered with wounds. Swiftfoot, too, was bleed badly and Miststar was in a state of shock. What have StarClan done this time? “What happened, Swiftfoot?” asked Miststar worriedly. “A rogue is out there. Twice our size……” stammered Swiftfoot, who, then, fell over and collapsed. Who is going to help these cats? “Rushpaw!” Miststar called into the nursery, “Rushpaw come here and bring cobwebs! Quickly!” “What happened here?” came a disgruntled mew from the nursery, “What happened to them?” “A rogue. I will take warriors with me and find this cat,” turning to Cedarfur who was still conscious, “What did it look like?” “It was a huge black cat with steel-gray eyes. It smelt of carrion and….. and strangely enough, ShadowClan, though it wasn’t a cat any of us have ever seen.”

Chapter 16
“Lillypaw! No! Stop!” yowled Spottedmoon, but it was too late. Lillypaw was atop the thing’s head. But the dog didn’t hurt Lillypaw, it just stood there, waiting for Lillypaw to understand that it wasn’t going to hurt any cat, her included. The blaze in Lillypaw’s eyes soon died when she saw that the beast stood there silently, looking face to face with her. “What….. What are you?” “I am the Wolf of Two. Would you mind getting off my face now?” Awkwardly, Lillypaw slid off of his face and landed on the ground with a thud. Standing face to face with the dog, Lillypaw’s fur stood on end. It’s so large! Will it hurt us? “I guess I should have warned you that he is so large, but I never got the chance to talk with you,” came Spottedmoon’s voice, full of laughter, “but I have a feeling it was more entertaining this way.” Lillypaw’s siblings crept out of the shadows, along with Snowpaw and Whitepaw, who had shown up moments later, unsure of their own eyes. Cinnamonpaw, the bravest of them, strolled over to Lillypaw’s side. “What do you want with us?” he asked courageously. “I must train you for the coming danger. I don’t have much time right now, as my Twolegs will be wondering where I have disappeared to, but I will send word through Spottedmoon,” he added with a glance in her direction, “If that’s alright, of course?” “That’s fine with me,” she mewed, nodding in agreement. “I think that we should all return to our homes now, though,” he barked gruffly. Turning, he spoke over his shoulder, “You will all make fine warriors.” As his tail disappeared into the undergrowth, Spottedmoon led the six apprentices back to camp.
Miststar had gathered a large group of warriors. In this group were four senior warriors, Aspenheart, Rowanpelt, Cinderfoot, and Gingerpelt, who was Ashpaw’s mentor. Four additional warriors, Runningstripe, Daisyheart, Flowerfoot, and Frosteyes, who had moved back to the warriors as soon as Whitepaw and Snowpaw had been named apprentices, joined the group. The rain had slowed to a drizzle, but one that soaked Runningstripe’s thick fur to the bone. Heading out, the group found Spottedmoon and the six apprentices peering out of the shadows. Calling to the apprentices, Miststar mewed, “You can come with us.” “Where are we going?” mewed Moonpaw, still shaken from the dog encounter. “Rogues have found their way to our territory,” Miststar meowed in unison with Runningstripe, who stood by her side. Miststar continued, “Lillypaw, Moonpaw, Pepperpaw, and Snowpaw. Come with us. Cinnamonpaw, Whitepaw, and Spottedmoon, head back to camp. We can’t leave it undefended,” she added at the end when Cinnamonpaw and Whitepaw were about to complain. Spottedmoon swept the apprentices toward the entrance of camp, “You might want to dry your fur, you know,” looking at Cinnamonpaw, “Especially you. You have your father’s thick coat.” Mumbling to each other, the two toms headed for the apprentices’ den.
Dewpaw looked on as Windrose gave her mother herbs. What will happen to these kits if mother doesn’t make it? Who will take care of them? Windrose to a step back as Waterfall shuddered and then fell still. “No,” Dewpaw whispered to herself.
Rushpaw had taken Cedarfur and Swiftfoot to the Medicine Cat’s den to care for them. Applying marigold to their wounds, she felt her stomach shudder. What was that for? Cedarfur noticed her sudden stop. “Are you alright, Rushpaw?” she asked, looking concerned. “I…. I…. Yes, I’m fine. Just too much freshkill this morning.” Or at least I hope so.
